Michelle Egerer, M.Ed - Senior Administrator

Michelle joined Silverado Senior Living – Newport Mesa as Administrator in June 2002. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Irvine and earned her graduate degree from Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. For 22 years Michelle has worked in Behavioral Healthcare, the past 12 years have been in the position of CEO/Administrator.

Michelle’s interest and involvement with dementia care comes from personal experience as a caregiver for her grandmother who many years ago was diagnosed with dementia and recently passed away. With her clinical and operations background and experience, Michelle brings knowledge, understanding and compassion to her work with individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

Patricia J. Gifford, MD – Medical Director

Dr. Gifford is a board-certified geriatrician with a special interest in community-based care systems for elderly. She has a background in many areas of elder care, including homecare, nursing home, clinic-based geriatric assessment, and assisted living. She teaches at the University of California at Irvine’s School of Medicine and makes house calls in South Orange County.

Dr. Gifford is the medical director of Coordinated Home Care, a home health agency affiliated with the Memorial Health Care System in Laguna Hills, and of Silverado Hospice. Dr. Gifford received her MD degree and geriatric fellowship from the University Of Southern California School Of Medicine.

Beverly “Bev” Almono, R.N., - Director of Health Services

Beverly “Bev” Almono, R.N., Director of Health Services

Beverly joined Silverado Senior Living - Newport Mesa in the spring of 2005 and brings more than 30 years of experience as a nursing professional. Since graduating from Nursing School in St. Petersburg, Florida in 1971, Bev has worked in many areas of the healthcare field including Medical-Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Home Health, Assisted Living, Sub-Acute Care and Long Term Care.

Bev’s experience includes both administrative and management positions throughout the last 20 years. Bev brings both expertise and compassion to Newport Mesa.

Susan Embree – Community Ambassador

Susan joined Silverado Senior Living – Newport Mesa in 2002 bringing with her eleven years experience in geriatric care, focusing on sales and marketing. She has also held positions in medical management consulting for physicians and office management for physicians groups. Susan uses her effective leadership skills and excellent communication skills, in both English and Spanish, to help coordinate events and volunteer development and in community relations.

Born in Guadalajara Mexico, Susan came to the United States at the age of six. Her family of seven children made their home in East Los Angeles. Susan has two children, a daughter 16 and a son 19. Her husband Garth is a fire safety technician and a part-time magician. Susan enjoys gardening, cooking, sewing and spending time with her family.

Diane Chavez – Director of Resident Engagement

Diane joins the Silverado Senior Living – Newport Mesa as Director of Resident Engagement in early 2005, with a strong passion for engagement and activities for seniors.

Since high school, Diane has enjoyed working with seniors and learning about their fascinating lives. Diane received a Master of Science Degree in Gerontology at California State University, Fullerton and earned her Activity Leadership Certificate from Cypress College which included 36 hours of volunteer work.

Diane has been working with seniors for five years in a variety of community involvement in Assisted Living Communities, Hospice and Adult Day Heath Care Centers as an Activity Coordinator.

We are pleased to have Diane’s enthusiasm and energy join us in Silverado Newport-Mesa.
