professional team includes a Medical Director, full
time registered nurse, licensed nurses around the clock,
a licensed social worker, as well as other professionals
who are committed to working together with your family
to identify and provide for the needs of your loved one.
We incorporate programs and services utilizing
state-of-the-art knowledge and techniques which adapt to
the unique, changing behavioral and communication needs
that occur with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
In addition, the Silverado team prepares a personalized
care plan in concert with the family to build on your
loved ones strengths, enhance positive self-image, and
promote autonomy to make each day a meaningful

using resident redirection and validation to assist in
behavior modification. Silverado has a low rate of
psychotropic medication use and frequently evaluates
residents to reduce unnecessary medication use.

Silverado offers a diverse range of activities which
stimulate social, cognitive and physical abilities,
utilizing the latest techniques for the care of
residents with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias.
Activities include music, intergenerational programs,
gardening, resident pets, arts and crafts, and
workshops. Country kitchens replace traditional nursing
stations, with 24-hour snacks available. At Silverado,
our goal is to make each day a satisfying, life-filled
experience.
A SPECIAL FOCUS ON FAMILY
 At
Silverado, we feel that no one should face this disease
alone. This is a disease that effects the entire family.
That is why we take special care to offer support to the
families of our residents. Professionally-led
family/caregiver support groups, educational programs,
as well as day and respite care are available to assist
the family in transition.

available as needed. Our goal is to provide a homelike
environment allowing residents to enjoy the rest of
their lives with us. Silverado provides our residents
with 24-hour licensed nursing services with expertise in
behavioral interventions and chronic disease management.
We also accommodate individual dietary or medication
needs and, of course, residents with walkers and
wheelchairs are welcome.

medical school and resident training site for the
University of California at San Diego Alzheimer’s
