Silverado Senior Living in San Juan Capistrano is designed to meet the care needs of residents with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Our community is nestled near the historic San Juan Mission in beautiful south Orange County. The mission of our specialty care community is to provide an environment which is aesthetically pleasing and accommodating to optimize our residents’ physical and emotional well-being, and to lend emotional and educational support to families.
Silverado has many years of experience in specialty care and is committed to our goal of easing your burden by creating a positive and fulfilling life for your loved one in a warm, comfortable and compassionate setting. Whether the resident is strolling the sensory gardens or interacting with a variety of pets or the staff’s children, the connection to the flow of life continues to exist. In traditional dementia care your loved one’s choices in every-day decisions becomes increasingly limited. At Silverado we encourage our residents to make choices and retain a “life purpose” as we celebrate the spirit of individuality of all our residents.
PERSONAL ATTENTION FROM AN EXPERT TEAM
Our professional team of physicians, a registered nurse, licensed vocational nurses, a licensed social worker, an activity director, and research professionals are committed to working together with your family to identify and provide for the needs of your loved one.
We incorporate programs and services utilizing state-of-the-art knowledge and techniques which adapt to the unique, changing behavioral and communication needs that occur with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. In addition, the Silverado team prepares a personalized care plan in concert with the family to build on your loved ones strengths, enhance positive self-image, and promote autonomy to make each day a meaningful experience. When we are able to demonstrate measurable results families are amazed at how much improvement is possible.
Your loved one will benefit directly from Silverado’s high
caregiver-to-resident ratio. Our care team is highly trained and
experienced in Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, with
special skills in the area of behavioral interventions. At
Silverado, we are committed to helping your loved one maintain
the best health possible with no physical restraints and minimal
use of medications. Silverado is proud of our philosophy of
using resident redirection and validation to assist in behavior
modification. Silverado has a low rate of psychotropic
medication use and frequently evaluates residents to reduce
unnecessary medication use.
SOCIAL, COGNITIVE AND PHYSICAL STIMULATION
Silverado offers a diverse range of activities which stimulate social, cognitive and physical abilities, utilizing the latest techniques for the care of residents with Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias. Activities include music, intergenerational programs, gardening, resident pets, arts and crafts, and workshops. Country kitchens replace traditional nursing stations, with 24-hour snacks available. At Silverado, our goal is to make each day a satisfying, life-filled experience.
A SPECIAL FOCUS ON FAMILY
At Silverado, we feel that no one should face this disease alone. This is a disease that effects the entire family. That is why we take special care to offer support to the families of our residents. Professionally-led family/caregiver support groups, educational programs, as well as day and respite care are available to assist the family in transition.
Enjoy dining with your loved in any of our dining areas (always complimentary to visitors), including a private dining room for special family celebrations. Partake in outdoor family barbecues and picnics on our expansive grounds. Silverado not only welcomes our residents, we welcome their families as well.
SILVERADO- THE QUALITY LIFE ALTERNATIVE TO A NURSING HOME
It is important for the individual with dementia to remain in a stable and familiar environment. Disrupting the resident and family member’s life when behavior becomes challenging by placing the resident in a different care environment is contrary to the Silverado mission. Professional and medical expertise, coupled with behavioral support and hospice services, are available as needed. Our goal is to provide a homelike environment allowing residents to enjoy the rest of their lives with us. Silverado provides our residents with 24-hour licensed nursing services with expertise in behavioral interventions and chronic disease management.
We also accommodate individual dietary or medication needs and, of course, residents with walkers and wheelchairs are welcome.
RESEARCH LEADS TO PROGRESS
Silverado Senior Living recognizes the value of clinical research in the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease. That is why we collaborate as a research medical school and resident training site for the University of California at San Diego Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. The Research Center is committed to perfecting new, effective treatments and caring techniques that will improve the quality of life for residents and their families. Together we will make a better life for everyone who faces this disease.
SURROUNDED BY LIFE
Our emphasis is on living. Every aspect of our interactive community is designed to help your loved get the most out of life… in a stimulating, comfortable, safe and caring environment.
The decision surrounding Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are never easy. Fortunately some choices are clear. Silverado Senior Living is one of them.
